Packing for a sexcation

Alright, so you’ve decided to take a sexcation! What makes this different than any other getaway? Well for one, you’ll need to rethink your suitcase strategy.  Along with the essentials (extra sun-screen, anyone?), you should remember to add a few specific items to make your special trip the most fun.

Lube

Rough sex can be fun, but chafing is not. Don’t forget to pack your favorite lube! Regardless of whether you are checking your luggage for travel or not, be sure your lube is in a zip-lock bag to prevent accidental spills. If you are only bringing carry-on luggage, make sure your lube is in the TSA approved size bottle!

Condoms

Do you prefer a certain type of condom? BRING THEM! Don’t rely on the venue or any new friends you meet to be prepared with your favorite brand or style. Condoms don’t take up much space, so don’t be stingy. Stock up!

toys

Let’s just get the awkwardness out of the way and remember that TSA agents have seen it ALL. From dildos to donkey masks, they really aren’t phased by your toys. They only care if it’s properly stored and won’t harm anyone on board. So to make it a smooth trip through security, keep these tips in mind:

  • Remember to remove any batteries to avoid an unexpected buzz from the overhead bins or possible detaining of your checked bag for suspicious electric activity. If your toy has a “lock” feature, be sure you set that too.

  • If you’re anything like us, we like to pack a few different toys to be prepared for any fun that comes our way. We’ve learned that anything “organic” (phallic) and “electronic” usually gets pulled for inspection, so we will pack all of our toys in one bag to make it easier for everyone involved.  In regards to Kink/BDSM toys; rope, whips and floggers are OK to bring in a carry-on, but handcuffs are not. If you can’t go without the restrains, Velcro love-cuffs or learning a shibari bind can be a travel-safe replacement.

  • For international travel, be aware of the electric outlet size in your destination. Nothing worse than having a corded Magic Wand and nowhere to plug it in!! Keep an outlet adapter handy.

Wet-Wipes

These have become a staple in the lifestyle for freshening up before or after playtime. Just like condoms, don’t rely on others to have wipes handy and especially if you have sensitive skin and prefer a certain brand.

slut cards

We’ve heard a few different terms for these, but all they are is a business card. The fun part is that people design them with a photo of themselves and the best way to keep in touch; whether it’s a screen-name, email or just your room number for people to get in touch.  Because let’s face it, who really ever has a paper and pen ready?

outfits

Most lifestyle events or takeovers will have themed parties.  They can range anywhere from “Glow Night” to “Cops and Criminals” and “Wild Animals” so you will be packing a bit more than your sundresses and Bermuda shorts. Get creative with your outfits, but don’t feel the need to go crazy if you have limited space in your bags. Accessories are perfect because they are typically small (like animal ears, hats, glasses or costume jewelry) and inexpensive so you wouldn’t miss them if they happened to get left behind. On the dance floor or someone’s bedroom, we don’t judge.
